Beyonce "Mirrors" Pepsi Commercial

The commercial takes Bey back to various moments in her past, but leaves us with the notion of the "Grown Woman" she is today...

Doesn't make me want to drink to Pepsi, but I hear ya!

Nicki Minaj Covers ELLE Magazine April 2013

Well, well, well... I guess it's safe to say the gig at American Idol is doing it's job, in terms of mainstreaming Ms. Minaj.

Nicki has been featured on (and in) editorial driven magazines before, but this is mainstay! She has achieved commercial success musically, but she is officially sipping from the fountain of fashion visibility now. WERQ!

Her advice for women on how to command respect: "My advice to women in general: Even if you're doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want— and don't allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can't play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That's what it's all about."

Kerry Washington's Moment For Life

Jamie Fox & Kerry Washington photo credit: Getty Images
So in love with Kerry getting a moment, one that I know will last. I've always known she was a good actress because she's a good temptress. From that straight to DVD movie, Lift to Spike Lee's She Hate Me, I've been a fan for a while -- hence her appearance on my side bar.

Now Kerry has fans salivating every Thursday as she portrays Olivia Pope, a big shot "fixer" working in Washington, DC and having a torrid affair with the Commander in Chief, President, Fitzgerald Grant, on Shonda Rhimes' Scandal.

She's currently also starring in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained -- the D is silent -- as  Broomhilda von Shaft aka little trouble maker.

The  movie as received a lot of attention. One for the (supposed) overuse of the "n" word & Tarantino's normal usage of gun play & fake blood.

What I hope the movie will eventually be remembered for being being a masterful story telling, great acting by the entire cast & the bravery to recreate the story of a slave. During many of the scenes,  I found myself cringing, not because the word ni..a, ni..a, ni..a (Trinidad James' voice) was being said, but because people actually had to endure some of the treatment that was depicted.

If anything, lets still be ashamed that slavery happened in this country, and not try to deflect from that fact.

Give me reparations!!!!
